Meet our teachers

Principal Elizabeth Kendrick F.I.D.T.A. A.A.D.A
Elizabeth is a senior examiner for the International Dance Teachers Association and has lectured and adjudicated all over the world. She is also on the Theatre Craft and Musical Theatre Faculty. After a successful career as a professional dancer, she turned to teaching and opened her own dance school, Southport Dance Academy, which has been under her guidance for 25 years. Many of her former students have gone on to successful careers in theatre, television, and film. She has also trained students to gain dance teacher qualifications, helping to maintain Southport Dance Academy's high standards and earning it the reputation of being "the home of dance excellence".



Miss Heidi
Heidi Liddle L.I.D.T.A
Heidi is a qualified dance teacher and has been teaching at Southport Dance Academy since 2004. She fell in love with dance at a very young age and spent her early life training in Ballet, Tap, Modern and Jazz, where she achieved distinctions in R.A.D and I.D.T.A examinations. Heidi has always had a passion for choreography and technique, and has enjoyed performing professionally as a dancer in a range of productions. In 2008, Heidi was awarded winner of the International Theatre Dance Awards and later qualified as a finalist in Miss Dance of Great Britain. Heidi has choreographed for many stage shows and competitions; and has taught in a variety of schools and colleges. She has trained students in all disciplines of dance, many of whom have gone on to have a successful career in the industry, as well as teaching others to achieve dance teaching qualifications. Her belief as a teacher is to inspire, nurture, challenge and empower every individual, to make them the best performer they can be.




Miss Kerry
Kerry began dancing at an early age and always knew she wanted to pursue a career in Dance. She studied a BA in Dance Studies at Middlesex University, gaining a First-Class Honours Degree. Kerry has always had a keen interest in the Arts, performing professionally as a dancer, singer and actor in a range of productions. Kerry has always thrived in artistic environments and hopes to continue developing herself as an artist and teacher.




Miss Emma
Emma attended Southport Dance Academy from the age of 3 and continued on to become a teacher. In 2021, she graduated from the Hammond with a BA Hons in Musical Theatre. She achieved distinctions in IDTA Modern, Theatre Craft, Ballet and Tap examinations as well as gaining her Associate teaching qualifications in Freestyle, Modern Jazz and Ballet. In 2016, Emma competed in the finals of Miss Dance of Great Britain at the Winter Gardens Ballroom in Blackpool.




Matthew
Matthew's first dance school was the Southport Dance Academy, joining when he was thirteen years old. He became a teacher in 2005 and his focus has always been Hip Hop and Street Dance, choreographing for shows, set pieces, exams and competitions. Matthew went on to study Osteopathy at university, attending Dolphin Dance College one day per week studying all dance styles, whilst maintaining his classes in SDA. Matthew has danced professionally for years, performing at many events and shows. He's also starred on BBC1's "So You Think You Can Dance" and at the MTV EMAs alongside Pink.
